Researching & unexpected jewels

Emily Koes Folpe’s fascinating book It Happened on Washington Square (Baltimore: The Johns Hopkins University Press, 2002) mentions “Washington Square,” a song from 1920.  The lyrics are by Cole Porter and E. Ray Goetz with Melville Gideon’s music.  I found a nice rendition by Wilfried van den Brande on the web here:   Enjoy as you reflect on the lyrics such as “wealth may be evading us” (Verse 2).
